Before, during, and after
the trek, Gregg and Deia have been conducting an
in-depth research project
in order to gain insight as to the overall picture as well as the
microcosms of
the localized portions of the trek. We have gathered specific
information including but not limited to the dispersal and migration
patterns
of the mammals in these areas, wildlife behaviors, habitat assessments,
resource availability, human impact, existing conservation practices,
and
future predictions for localized impacts caused by climate change.
This
was accomplished by meeting with key wildlife officials,
researchers, and
private land owners, reading scientific articles and land use reports,
and trekking the length of this wildlife movement area.
