Before, during, and after the trek, Gregg and Deia have been conducting an in-depth research project in order to gain insight as to the overall picture as well as the microcosms of the localized portions of the trek.  We have gathered specific information including but not limited to the dispersal and migration patterns of the mammals in these areas, wildlife behaviors, habitat assessments, resource availability, human impact, existing conservation practices, and future predictions for localized impacts caused by climate change.  This was accomplished by meeting with key wildlife officials, researchers, and private land owners, reading scientific articles and land use reports, and trekking the length of this wildlife movement area.
